We are one of 5 training hospital groups in the country. Our training platform consists of Groote Schuur, Red Cross Children’s Hospital and Maitland Cottage Childrens Hospital. We drain a regional population of 4.5 million plus those seeking care from out side our province. We have a high trauma and infection (TB) load but provide service and training across the spectrum. As HOD, I oversee the whole Orthopaedic service and training programs as well as personally provide the spine surgery component of the service.
